Spay
Day is The Humane Society
International's annual event to inspire people to save animals' lives
by spaying or neutering pets and feral cats. 37 organizations
from Bermuda, Canada, Colombia, Cook Islands, India, Israel, Italy,
Jamaica, Japan, Kenya, Lebanon, Mexico, Peru, Philippines, Puerto Rico,
Romania, Sierra Leone, South Africa, Trinidad & Tobago, Uganda,
United Arab Emirates, US Virgin Islands, including Spay/Panama for
Panama, registered for the event in the month of February 2009.
 El Día Internacional de la Esterilización es una campaña anual de Humane Society International para inspirar a la gente a salvar vidas animales esterilizando mascotas y animales callejeros. 37 organizaciones de Bermuda, Canada, Colombia, Cook Islands, India, Israel, Italia, Jamaica, Japón, Kenya, Líbano, Mexico, Perú, Filipinas, Puerto Rico, Romania, Sierra Leona, Sudáfrica, Trinidad & Tobago, Uganda, Unión de Emiratos Arabes, Islas Vírgenes, incluyendo a Spay/Panama para Panamá, se registraron para este evento en el mes de febrero 2009.  Spay/Panama with Mari Pily, Jaime and Sagrario from Albergue Feliz have sterilized over 2,000 animals in Arraijan. Still lots of animals need help and Arraijan was selected for the Spay Day International event. The event took
place at the Regulo Sanchez Gym on February 15, 2009.
333 animals (253 dogs and 80 cats) were sterilized , dewormed, ears cleaned, sprayed for ticks and fleas, given a shot of vitamins, and vaccinated against rabies. The dogs can be identified with an "S" tattooed in one ear and the cats by one notched ear. The goal was to sterilize 150 animals and we did 183 more thanks to Jaime, Sulem, Evelyn and Lorena.  Spay/Panamá con Mari Pily, Jaime y Sagrario del Albergue Feliz han esteriizado más de 2,000 animales en Arraiján. Todavía quedan muchos animales que necesitan ayuda y Arraiján fue seleccionada para el evento del Día Internacional de la Esterilización. El evento tuvo lugar en el Gimnasio de Regulo Sanchez el 15 de febrero de 2009. 333 animales (253 perros y 80 gatos) fueron esterilizados, desparasitdos, sus orejitas limpiadas, rociados contra pulgas y garrapatas, se les dio una inyección de vitaminas, y vacunados contra rabia. Los perros se pueden identificar con una "S" tatuada en una oreja y los gatos por un pequeño corte en la punta de una oreja. La meta era esterilizar 150 animales e hicimos 183 más gracias a Jaime, Sulem, Evelyn y Lorena.

The animals are evaluated, registered, weighed and identified with a collar ID before administering the anesthesia. Los animales son evaluados, registrados, pesados e identificados con un collar antes de administrarles la anestesia.  Animals are shaved, given a shot of pain medication and antibiotic. Dr. Letty, Dr. Raquel, Dr. Carlos, Dr. Liss, Dr. Augusto, Dr. Ana, Dr. Rene, Dr. Andres B. and Dr. Kazi who came from Michigan on behalf of WorldVets.   Taxiiiii..... Kudos to Los Angeles de los Animales, they worked with enthusiasm and diligence up to the very last animal. Animals have the incision and ears cleaned, given a shot of vitamins, dewormer, sprayed for ticks and fleas and vaccinated against rabies. Surgical instruments are washed and autoclaved after each surgery. Los instrumentos quirúrgicos son lavados y esterilizados después de cada cirugía.  A total of $725.88 was donated by the guardians/rescuers/feeders of the 333 animals, the equivalent of $2.18 per animal. Los Angeles de los Animales did fundraising to buy Telazol, Penstrep and syringes; they also got supplies donated like Q-tips, cotton, Betadine, alcohol, needles, banner, etc. Mari Pily donated the dewormer Endovet. Through Araceli, syringes were donated. Un
