SAN MIGUEL
PROJECT IN CONJUNCTION WITH THE
MUNICIPALITY OF PANAMA

Local community organizers are asked to do the list of appointments for surgery and to identify a place where the operations can be done.  Once the place is determined, Spay/Panama goes inspect the place and make sure everything is in order.

While inspecting San Miguel, we saw this little dog with a horribly twisted leg and an open sore, three puppies were trying to suck milk out of her.  The little dog's name is Lana.  She was hit by a car six months ago and the driver did not stop to help her.  Her guardian does not have the facility nor the funds to take her to a vet clinic.  Lana became pregnant and with all the pain and suffering she tries to take care of her pups.  Like Lana, there are thousands of similar cases.

Lana came back with us to be bathe, have her leg amputated, spayed, vaccinated, dewormed, eliminate the fleas, injected with vitamins and have her ears cleaned.  Lana continues with us and her guardian calls every day to find out how she is doing.  Once she is fully recovered, she will be returned.

At the blitz we had several dogs with one missing leg.

The people were amazed looking at doctors Augusto, Lissette, Andres and Gloria; at the volunteers Alberto, Rebeca, Daniel, Yelitsa, Peggy, Reina, and Pat

46 dogs were sterilized

These guardians brought their pets to improve their quality of life

The Mayor's Office provided the transportation of the staff and lunch. The Honorable Diputado Edwin Zúñiga provided the transportation of the equipment.

Spay/Panama has presented a proposal to the Honorable Mayor Bosco Vallarino to join forces to make Panama a healthier place, more attractive to the residents and the tourists and more humanitarian towards the animals.

We are waiting for a positive response.

The cost of the sterilization campaign was borne by Spay/Panama.   Help us save more animals by clicking  I WANT TO SAVE LANA
